Two-Spirit, Ardhanarishvara, Hermaphrodite, Yin and Yang… Ancient cultures have had a knowing that we all embody both, male and female. The qualities of our feminine and masculine aspects make us whole, and integrated. Western culture has long favored the masculine over the feminine: Power tops gentleness, doing and action count more than sensing, waiting and relaxation, intellect brings in respect and money while intuition can’t be trusted. As a result of this bias the natural, joyful dance of Yin and Yang, of sun and moon, of the sacred feminine and masculine have been lost.

The female body is, globally speaking, still a very dangerous place to inhabit. In (relatively) safe, yet still male dominated Western societies, we learn that our value as women is tied to being beautiful, pleasing, supportive and mothering. We obsess with how we look rather than knowing, feeling and enjoying our body from the inside. Comparing and competing with other women makes it hard to actually see, trust, and support each other. We may also mistrust men. As we protect ourselves, disowned feelings of hurt and resentment diminish our chance of having truly intimate relationships. Very possibly our playful, warm and sensual feminine qualities have been protected, overused or neglected. As we keep pushing ourselves, our male qualities may be so forced and relied upon that the gifts of our masculine side harden and become distorted.

This process is designed to bring compassion, honesty and healing to old wounds around men and women. It’s time for a fresh inquiry into what it means to be unapologetically ourselves.

When we somatically understand socialized relating patterns and distortions in our own feminine and masculine aspects, we can experience:

• Healthy expressions of sacred Yang energy

• Healthy expressions of sacred Yin energy

• The richness of Integrating Yin and Yang, our unique expressions of the feminine and masculine in us

Accommodation in the seminar room is part of the process and included in the retreat price. A limited amount of private rooms are available for an additional charge. The retreat will be held in English.
